Analysis of Vehicle-to-Grid Loads in Coupled Transportation and Power Distribution Network Based on Microscopic Traffic Simulation

The number of electric vehicles is increasing rapidly, and the electric vehicle charging load is exerting a greater impact on the power distribution network. A V2G-compatible program is proposed, constructing a model considering the microscopic behavior of vehicles in the urban transportation network. The proposed program is able to perform a simulation of the coupled transportation and power distribution network. A case of a 37-junction transportation network and the IEEE 33-node distribution network is proposed, and V2G is enabled at a given period of time in this case. The results of the simulation on the proposed case reveal that the proposed program is able to characterize the dynamic changes in traffic flow and charging load and to analyze the impact of V2G on the given case.
