1 CS-2 VS-3 Phase-4 Switches PMSM Drive (1-2-3-4 PMSM Drive) With Multisource Information Unified Calibration

The three-phase four-switch inverter (TPFSI) has been proven as a cost-effective solution. Nevertheless, TPFSI-fed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive still requires at least two current sensors, which will result in inevitable cost. This problem is usually addressed by using single current sensor (CS) control techniques to obtain three-phase current information. And the high sampling bandwidth requirement arising therefrom brings unexpected additional costs. Furthermore, the conventional single CS control techniques are subject to certain inherent limitations, including dead zones, restricted sampling conditions, complex pulse width modulation (PWM) schemes and cable routing methods, and so forth. In this article, the 1 CS-2 voltage sensor (VS)-3 phase-4 switch PMSM drive is proposed, where the voltage fluctuation signal is utilized to calculate one phase current. Then, one CS without high sampling bandwidth requirement is installed to measure another phase current. The proposed scheme is easy to be fulfilled, can be utilized to reduce the cost of the PMSM vector control system, and overcome the limitations of the conventional single CS control techniques. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can be used to accurately calculate the three-phase current and shows high stability and resilience to external disturbances.
