Design and Implementation of a Human Following Mini Truck With Computer Vision Based Gesture Recognition

A mechatronic system was designed using computer vision to allow a truck to undergo tracking. Chassis analysis was conducted for three concepts, undergoing at least three design iterations per concept, where each iteration included the synthesis, analysis, and optimization of the model. Force analysis of the drivetrain was performed alongside motion analysis for the steering system. The combination of OpenCV and Mediapipe was used to accomplish gesture recognition. Several safety features were added to the truck to ensure the safety of the operators.
