Acoustic Performance of Building as a Tool to Save Economic Resources

The evaluation of acoustic performance during the initial stages of architectural design, integrated with consideration of material selection and material economic implications, is essential for sustainable design. The research paper investigates the acoustic performance of architectural spaces, and how it affects economic resources in the regard to building materials and their cost. Units’ spaces of a housing project are utilized as case studies. Acoustic analysis and calculations are performed to explore different strategies of acoustic insulation materials. The research paper employs qualitative analysis of the acoustic performance of the residential unit spaces. The research paper proceeds to conduct statistical analysis of the used building materials in terms of saving economic resources. The research paper concludes to form basis to improve the indoor acoustic environments of the case-study spaces according to the space function and the occupant needs.
