Dynamic Characteristics of Trimaran Type Floating Ocean Current Power Plant

Indonesia's renewable energy potential is very high, especially in the marine sector, because Indonesia is a maritime country. A floating system is needed to support energy generation at sea by converting kinetic energy from ocean currents into electrical energy. A floating trimaran type is one type of floating tidal power plant. The floating performance can be influenced by marine environmental conditions that cause the dynamic response of the floating. The ratio of demi hull distance to total floating length (S/L) affects the hydrodynamic characteristics. This research uses the BEM method with ANSYS AQWA design variations of 0.3 S/L, 0.4 S/L, and 0.5 S/L ratios. The results of this research are dynamic characteristics in the form of added mass and radiation damping from heave, roll, and pitch movements. The results show that the most significant distance ratio has better stability, and each design variation has its natural frequency.
