A Novel Formula for Estimating the Maximum Shielding Angle Deviation in Overhead Transmission Line

Minimizing the shielding failure phenomena by estimating the shielding angle deviation to enhance the reliability of overhead transmission line is the problem to be solved in this paper. In term of estimating how large the shielding angle deviation is allowed so that the SF may not happen, this paper presents a novel formula of maximum shielding angle deviation. The machine learning models are used as a part of steps in inventing this formula. The formula shows that maximum shielding angle deviation is smaller when the actual shielding angle is approaching the 10 degrees. Then, the maximum shielding angle deviation will remain constant in 5 degrees until actual shielding angle reaches 20 degrees. In addition, the rule for selecting the overhead transmission line shielding failure criticality based on this formula is also proposed.
