Adaptive Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Control for Magnetic Levitation System

A novel adaptive super twisting control technique is proposed for the stabilization of the magnetic levitation system. In the designed adaptive super twisting sliding mode control (ASTSMC) technique, the resistance of the electrical circuit of the system is harnessed as an adaptive law to dynamically accommodate variations in the resistance. The developed technique is then compared with sliding mode control (SMC) and super twisting sliding mode control (STSMC) techniques in terms of control input chattering, settling time, control effort, robustness to parameter variations, and external disturbances. Simulation studies are incorporated to verify the effectiveness and suitability of the proposed scheme.
