Study of the Dynamics of Manipulated Droplet Based on Concave Spherical Phased Array Acoustic Levitator

Ultrasonic levitation is a unique technology that utilizes the nonlinear effect of ultrasonic wave to generate acoustic radiation force to achieve object levitation. This technology is suitable for containerless manipulation of liquid samples because it avoids contact with manipulated objects and is widely used in the fields of material preparation and biochemical analysis. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of a droplet in acoustic levitation and the velocity and position distribution of the droplet in the acoustic field under the acoustic radiation force were studied by using the finite element method. The droplet dynamic behavior was observed by using a concave spherical phased array acoustic levitator, and the droplet deformation, cavitation and oscillation under acoustic manipulation were studied. The results show that the droplet velocity and morphology can be controlled, and the droplet shaping can be achieved under the control of the concave spherical phased array acoustic levitator.
