Application of Passive Pressure Sensors in the Online Monitoring Scenario of GIS Equipment in Hydropower Stations

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the application potential of passive pressure sensors in the online monitoring of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) of hydropower stations. Especially in the combination of polycrystalline diamond composites (PDC) and Microwave Driven Sensor (MDS) technology, a kind of passive pressure sensor which can be driven by microwave at a long distance is developed. And the accurate, real-time and non-destructive monitoring of SF6 gas pressure in GIS equipment is realized by constructing the monitoring system of signal transmission. In order to transmit the data sensed by the sensor terminal back through the wireless data transmission channel when the sensor terminal has no battery, a passive sensing information transmission channel based on carrier modulation technology is constructed. The passive pressure sensor can realize the function of pressure data sensing and communication by using long distance microwave drive without battery and cable power supply.
