Hybrid Germanium-on-Zinc Selenide Waveguides for Longwave Infrared Integrated Photonics

We demonstrate a silicon-free germanium-on-zinc selenide (GOZ) platform for integrated longwave infrared photonics, achieving transparency from $2\ \mu \mathrm{m}$ to $14 \ \mu \mathrm{m}$ and optical losses of just 1 cm^-1 (at $7.8 \ \mu \mathrm{m})$.
