Blockchain Implementation for Visual Art Copyright Protection

As digitization continues to grow, the distribution of creative work has become more widespread. However, this has also led to an increase in copyright infringement, which poses a significant threat to rights holders. Traditional copyright exchange platforms face various challenges, such as inefficiencies, high transaction costs, compromised personal privacy, and safety risks regarding data. To address these issues, we propose a new system for protecting the copyright of visual artwork using Hyperledger technology. Our approach involves using the SIFT algorithm to compute feature vectors from visuals. If the similarity exceeds specified thresholds, the system flags the infringements and initiates punitive measures. On the other hand, if the similarity falls below the threshold, the system saves an imperceptible watermark embedded within the visual on IPFS as a safeguard against plagiarism. Our system benefits from blockchain's unique attributes, such as scalability, storage efficacy, and quick transmission. This strengthens the system's defenses against potential vulnera-bilities. Empirical studies confirm our system's effectiveness in recognizing similarities and defending copyrights. Further-more, the blockchain-backed copyright registration process ensures the portability and traceability of copyright data, providing a secure and effective solution for protecting visual artwork copyrights.
