Abstract:

In the field of cave fresco research, this study aims to address the degradation of frescoes caused by natural erosion and human damage. In order to improve the science and effectiveness of the restoration work, we propose an innovative restoration method that combines eye-tracking technology and an “avatar” generation model. By carefully analyzing the visual attention of the observer, we identified visual hotspots in the murals and used them as the basis for restoration. Case studies have shown that this method can significantly improve the restoration results and has been recognized by experts and the public. This research result not only verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method, but also provides a new paradigm for the future restoration of cave wall paintings, which has wide potential for popularization and application.
