Genome Trader: Utilizing Genetic Algorithms for Smarter Investment

The inspiration for this research comes from natural selection and genetics, which involve the use of genetic algorithms to handle complex data management problems. It included learning how to apply Genetic Algorithms (GAs) in formulating investment strategies that would boost the decision making process in financial markets. Traditional investment decision-making methods often rely on historical data and static models, which may not reflect all financial market conditions. In contrast, genetic algorithms provide a dynamic and flexible system that can change over time. Their flexibility in responding to changes in business and optimization is a result of their flexibility. The study begins by exploring the concept of genetic algorithms in general, and how they are handy in solving optimization problems. Then it goes on to enumerate the challenges an individual is likely to face while investing and how it is important for investors to adapt themselves according to the evolving market conditions. This research entails the building of models through genetic algorithms with aim of optimizing investment portfolios. Business model, high risk level and important financial data are applied on to the model based on input data. A variety of simulation and back testing programs are used in evaluating the efficiency of genetic algorithms that can improve return on investment (ROI) as well as reduce risk.
