Improving Patch Antenna Performance Utilizing Defected Ground Structure (DGS) for Wireless Applications at Ka-Band

Within the scope of this research, a defected ground structure (DGS) slotted microstrip antenna is presented and constructed. This antenna has the potential to be utilized in forthcoming wireless communication systems. The antenna base was constructed using Fr-4 material, which has a dielectric permittivity of 4.7, a thickness of 0.5 mm, and a loss tangent of 0.02. These characteristics were used in the fabrication process. A transmission line with $50 \Omega$ transmissions is used to supply the patch. Computer simulation technology was utilized to reproduce the antenna after it was completed. By utilizing the antenna, it is possible to achieve high data speeds while simultaneously reducing the costs of shipping and increasing the level of consumer interaction. It is possible to improve the return loss, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), and bandwidth of a normal rectangular patch microstrip antenna by incorporating a slot into the patch. The return loss of the antenna is precisely -76.198 dB, its VSWR is precisely 1.0003, and its bandwidth is precisely 1.769 GHz. The proposed antenna has two basic goals: the first is to improve return loss by employing a typical VSWR, and the second is to improve antenna bandwidth, ultimately making it suitable for use in wireless applications.
