Design and Analysis of Master Slave D Flip Flop Using Pass Transistor

This article presents a novel approach to implementing a positive-edge triggered D flip-flop utilizing pass transistors, aiming to offer improved performance and energy efficiency. The proposed design leverages transistors as key elements to achieve compact and robust flip-flop architecture. We examine the comprehensive design process, covering the transistor-level schematic, layout considerations, and timing analysis. By utilizing pass transistors strategically, our design minimizes the propagation delay and power consumption, making it well-suited for high-speed and low-power applications and analyzes the impact of process variations and parasitic capacitances on the flip-flop’s performance, highlighting its robustness. We implement this concept in (digital schematic circuit designing software) DSCH and Microwind layout editor software tool.
