Influence of Element Characteristics on DOA Estimation for Pressure-Gradient Vector Hydrophones

Factors such as the layout spacing, installation error, sensitivity, and phase consistency of each omnidirectional element of a pressure-gradient vector hydrophone affect the final DOA estimation accuracy. By analyzing an acoustic model of the pressure-gradient vector hydrophone acoustic model and the cross-spectral DOA algorithm principle, the proposed model shows the relationship between element spacing, directivity, and gain. Based on the Monte Carlo principle, the effects of various array element characteristics on the DOA estimation accuracy was analyzed, and the impact results were accurately quantified.
