Theoretical and Simulation Analysis of a New Kind of Quadrupole-Like Transducer

As one of the common low-frequency high-power transducers, Junas transducers are widely used in the underwater acoustic field. To further reduce the operating frequency band of the Junas transducer, its structure has been changed so that it consists of four radiating surfaces that radiate sound waves outward simultaneously. As a result, the resonant frequency decreases due to increased radiation reactance. At low frequencies, the transducer can be regarded as a longitudinal quadrupole-like acoustic radiation model [1]. From this, the longitudinal quadrupole acoustic radiation impedance is derived, and its rules are analyzed qualitatively. After that, COMSOL Multiphysics, a finite element software, was used to model and simulate it, and analyze the impact of different geometric parameters on its performance. Finally, the rules of the transducer are summarized.
