Validation of the Physical Random Unintentional Radiation Model by Measurement of an Artificial Test Object in an Anechoic Chamber

The purpose of this paper is to present the metrological investigation of the normative emission measurement methods to validate the results of the stochastic radiator model and to derive practical recommendations for the applicable measurement methods in the frequency range from 6 GHz to 40 GHz. An artificial test object was chosen to simulate the characteristics of an unintentional radiator. Emission values measured in the anechoic chamber with high angular resolution are used as the basis for the evaluation. The results reveal a strong dependence of the detected maximum on the angular resolution used, with deviations reaching up to 11 dB. To improve reproducibility and reduce uncertainty of the normative methods, a statistical approach is suggested to reduce measurement time.
