Balancing Tradition and Innovation: Effective Classroom Management in ICT-Enhanced ELT Environments

With the growing prevalence of information and communication technology (ICT) technologies in classrooms, this research seeks to determine the best methods of managing classroom interactions so that students and teachers alike may benefit. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach, gathering data from English as a Second Language (ESL) instructors at different schools using an online survey. The purpose of this SPSS-based study is to get a better grasp of the pros and cons of integrating ICT, to assess the efficacy of conventional methods of classroom management, and to suggest novel techniques that supplement ICT resources. The findings of the poll show that there are a lot of problems with managing classrooms that use ICT, such as problems with student participation, distraction, and technical concerns. Regardless of these obstacles, the tried-and-true methods of managing a classroom, including establishing ground rules and sticking to them, are still the best way to keep students in check. Nevertheless, the research emphasizes the need of implementing new approaches, such as using ICT resources for individualized learning and interactive activities, in order to boost student engagement and enthusiasm. The results highlight the significance of combining conventional wisdom with new ideas in order to make ICT-enhanced ELT classrooms more productive places to study. A versatile management style that incorporates both traditional techniques and current technical tools is one practical consequence for ELT instructors. By striking this equilibrium, we can make sure that the advantages of ICT are fully realized while reducing any possible drawbacks. Finally, the study suggests a number of areas for further investigation, including longitudinal studies to track changes over time and a more in-depth examination of certain ICT tools and their influence on classroom management.
