Design and Optimization of Ferrite-based Circulator for C-Band Application

This study presents comprehensive work on the design and simulation of a ferrite-based circulator optimized for C-band applications, employing the Ansys HFSS tool. Operating specifically at a frequency of 5.5 GHz, the circulator is meticulously engineered to address the unique demands of C-band frequencies. Key performance parameters, including insertion loss, isolation level, return loss, and VSWR, are thoroughly analysed to ensure the circulator’s performance meets stringent standards. Results indicate an insertion loss of 0.315 dB, while isolation levels range from 32.37 dB to 35.98 dB. Return loss varies between 37.19 dB and 51.76 dB, with VSWR measuring at 1.01 dB. The successful design and simulation of this ferrite-based circulator hold significant promise, particularly considering the scarcity of circulators tailored for the C-band. Future endeavors will focus on further optimizing and refining the design for practical integration into C-band systems.
