Study of the Impact of Large-capacity Compressor Start-up on Voltage Quality in Energy Storage Power Plants

The 300MW Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) power plant utilizes large-capacity motors to compress air, resulting in significant electrical load fluctuations during start-up. This can potentially lead to voltage deviations and compromise grid voltage quality. To ensure stable voltage operation and maintain grid voltage quality, this paper analyzes the impact of large-capacity compressor start-up on synchronous and asynchronous motor voltage levels during the start-up process. Corresponding countermeasures are proposed.
