Economic and Low-carbon Dispatch of a Data Center Microgrid Considering Laddering Carbon Trading

With the national integrated large data center system project, the construction of data centers in China has experienced rapid growth. However, the IT and cooling equipments in data centers consume large amounts of power. This poses significant challenges in terms of reducing power costs, energy consumption, and carbon emissions, thus affecting the sustainable development of data centers. Building data center microgrids is a good way to mitigate these issues. Then, this paper investigates the problem of energy dispatch for data center microgrids. Specifically, in this paper, we introduce the laddering carbon trading into the system cost of the data center microgrid. Then we minimize the total system cost by balancing the uncertainty of renewable energy, batch load, and energy storage. The case study verifies the proposed optimum yields an economic and low-carbon dispatch strategy, and reduces both carbon emission and costs.
