Equivalent Simulation and Measurement for the Electrodynamic Suspension System Based on the Dynamic Circuit Theory

This paper proposed a novel method to investigate the electromagnetic forces between the onboard superconducting coils and the ground coils of the electrodynamic suspension (EDS) system. This method used the idea from the mathematical model based on the dynamic circuit theory and the virtual displacement method which discretizes the motion process of the EDS system into successive time steps with equal increments to simulate and measure the transient electromagnetic forces of the propulsion and suspension subsystem in static experiments. A testing system which is composed of four main modules for power, servo, cryogenic, and measurement was established based on the novel method. Equivalent simulations of the electromagnetic force output of the EDS system and the force measurement experiments have been carried out using a scaled prototype built in our lab. The consistency between the finite element method, analytical calculation, and experimental results mutually verified the effectiveness of each method. Characteristic investigations of the force output of the prototype from the perspective of operating airgap and vertical offset were carried out with the established method in this work.
