An Improved Single-Phase Monopolar Generator

The article describes the study of an improved design of a single-phase monopolar generator. The main difference of the design is the symmetrical EMF of the coils, with alternating polarity and low THD of the half-wave shape. The phase shift of 180° in the armature winding coils ensures optimal use of their EMF and efficiency. This design can be used in single-phase power supplies for the private use, low-power wind turbines and in some industrial applications. The design's stator fill factor (StatorEmbrace) is 0.3, which is slightly less than the stator fill factor of 0.375 of the three-phase design that the authors of the article proposed in the previous article. The design of the single phase generator is simple, and the achieved power level allows its practical application. The studied operating modes are presented in a reader-friendly form and can be used to assess the quality of design.
