A Brushless DC Electric Motor with Direct Torque Control Technique Without Flux Linkage Monitoring

This paper introduces a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor with direct torque control without flux linkage control, utilizing hall effect sensors for rotor position detection and a specific magnetic system configuration. Such a magnetic system does not require flux linkage control for direct torque control. To eliminate current pulsations during phase commutations, algorithm of direct torque control of the BLDC motor is presented. Several simulations are performed using MATLAB/Simulink to examine the performance of the proposed system. The simulation shows that the electromagnetic output torque signal of BLDC motor has no pulsating at low speeds level up to 2700 RPM.
