Implementation of High Gain DC-DC Converter in FC-Battery System for EV Application

This paper introduces a method for utilizing electric vehicle (EV) technology by employing a high gain Switch capacitor based Quasi Z Source Capacitor (SQZS) boost converter for Fuel Cell(FC) integration and a Bi-Directional Converter(BDC) for battery integration. The aim is to amalgamate various energy sources to increase efficiency and performance. The SQZS converter serves as a mediator between the FC, ensuring smooth power transfer with the employment of the Maximum Power Point Technique (MPPT). Additionally, the BDC, in conjunction with the battery, supplements power when the fuel cell output is insufficient and absorbs excess power during low-load operation. Through strategic utilization of the unique properties of each energy source, the control mechanism enhances effective power transfer, conservation, and circulation, thereby enhancing EV conservation, extending range, and reducing reliance on an individual energy device. An 8 KW/200 V system is devised to implement the FC-BAT system, accounting for a BLDC motor load. A comprehensive investigation showcases the advantage of the suggested FC-BAT system compared to traditional methods, providing favorable opportunities for future electric vehicle development.
