Study on Al-Cu Brazing Using TIG Welding Technology

Brazing/Soldering is one of the promising solutions to combine dissimilar materials, such as steel-aluminum, steel-ceramic, etc. This study presents a brazing solution to join aluminum (Al) and copper (Cu) bars using TIG welding technology. Once done, the Al-Cu brazing weld is evaluated for adhesion through X-ray images, tensile strength, electrical conductivity, heat capacity, lifespan, and working time. The results show that the Al-Cu brazing weld achieves some basic requirements of a joint between two different materials, creating a premise for further research.
