Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet (APPJ) Generation using Industrial Frequency Alternative Power Source

The study has investigated the electrical characteristics of Atmospheric pressure plasma jets (APPJ) using an alternating current power source at industrial frequency. The plasma jet was generated based on the principle of dielectric barrier discharge at various voltage levels. As the magnitude of the power source voltage increases, the discharge process was enhanced. The experimental results agreed with the principle of dielectric barrier discharge, where accumulation of charged particles on the dielectric layers in the previous discharge cycle affects the occurrence of discharge in subsequent cycle.
