Design and Implementation of High Voltage Gain DC-DC Converter for solar PV Applications

DC-DC converters are becoming increasingly important for integrating renewable energy generators, such as solar PV systems, with the DC grid. Solar PV systems generate low voltage under low irradiance conditions, so conventional DC-DC converter performance is poor when integrating solar PV systems with the DC grid. So, a high-gain converter is appropriate for low-voltage applications such as a low-voltage solar PV system or module. This paper presents a high-voltage gain DC-DC converter for a low-voltage solar PV system. To achieve a high voltage gain, the suggested converter employs a pair of inductors and two capacitors. Additionally, in this article, the proposed converter is implemented for a DC grid-integrated solar PV system to export the solar power to the load and grid. To extract the most power from a low-voltage solar PV system, an incremental algorithm was implemented. This paper presents an in-depth examination of the proposed converter’s steady-state analysis for solar PV applications. The MATLAB 2022a Simulink version was used to evaluate the proposed converter’s functionality.
