Controlling Coupling in TCC VCSEL with Lithographically Defined Cavities at 940nm

We report on detailed studies of coupling in transverse coupled cavity VCSEL arrays. 1×2 arrays with lithographic apertures exhibit splitting in emission spectra, characteristic to coherent coupling between emitters. Spectrally resolved near- and far-field show typical patterns corresponding to in-phase and anti-phase optical states.
