An Experimental Investigation of Volume Fraction of Natural Java Jute and Sponge Gourd Fiber Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composite

Composite materials can replace traditional materials due to their excellent features such as compression, tensile strength, high strength to weight ratio, and low cost. Among the composite materials, polymer-based composites are being pursued by researchers. This study focuses on natural fiber composites made from Java Jute and Sponge gourd fibers and vinyl ester resin. The composite is made by hand layup at varied volume percentages of fibers by the Java Jute andsponge gourd fibers at 10/20, 15/15, and 20/10 volume ratios and reinforced with vinyl ester resin. By performing mechanical tests such as tensile, impact, and flexural, Java Jute and sponge gourd natural fiber composite-based material enhanced its qualities and was utilized as an alternative source for glass fiber reinforced polymeric materials.
