AI Integrated Mobile Robot for Hospital Reception and Registration Services with Environment Mapping and Autonomous Navigation

In this paper Process automation in hospital management using interactive robots with NLP (Natural Language Processing) and VSLAM (Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) navigation is done. Temi, Mobile Robot is programmed to act as a receptionist and registration robot in hospitals to simplify the task of hospital staff and decrease the waiting time of patients and thereby serves the patients more effectively and efficiently. In this project, a programmed robot handled certain hospital staff duties, such as greeting patients and directing them to the preliminary investigation room if an appointment is already scheduled, after verifying this with specific patient data. The robot will prompt the patient to provide information such as name, ID number, and the section or doctor they would like to see if they do not already have an appointment. Thus, the robot will schedule a visit and provide the patient's turn number. The patient can type on the screen or speak in response to the robot. The robot is designed to go from patient to patient while they are seated in the waiting area, performing the preliminary examination in their stead and saving time. Moreover, the temi's face-tracking technology adapts the screen to the user's position. The Hospital use case is deployed and tested for 10 patients and the robot is reliable for 95 % of the trials. From the survey collected from the users it is observed that patients in the age group below 50% found it interesting and engaging while old people are not comfortable with the use of Robots in health care.
