Prediction of Magnetic Properties in MR Damper Using FEA

Dampers were used to control the vibration in any system. It performs absorbing shock due to sudden shock or it supports the system in a continuous shock. Pneumatic and hydraulic dampers are the most commonly found dampers, but in recent years' electrical dampers were started to raised, this uses some electrical powders or iron powders which absorbs the shocks or vibration when an electrical signal is passed. In advanced level magneto-rheological fluid acts as a damping fluid which forms magnetic chains when electromagnetic induction takes place if an electrical signal is passed to the electromagnetic coil. In this research work, a magneto-rheological damper was prepared for the vibration control in automotive shocks. Here the damper uses an in-house prepared MR fluid and their characteristics were studied and FEA tool was used to predict the magnetic properties in MR damper, which can be used to redesign the damper or MR fluid can be improved in such a way.
