Green Synthesis of Zero Valent Iron Nanoparticles (nZVI) Utilizing Rosa Indica and Their Efficacy in Dye Effluent Treatment

The present study investigates the removal of methylene blue dye (MB) from aqueous solutions, utilizing a novel green adsorbent as an alternative to conventional chemical methods. Rosa indica (R) aqueous extract serves as both a reducing and capping agent in the synthesis of a novel nano-zero-valent iron (R-nZVI), facilitating the adsorption of harmful MB. The synthesized R-nZVI underwent comprehensive structural and morphological characterization employing various analytical techniques, including photochemical screening, UV-visible spectroscopic examination, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The maximum removal efficiency reached 74.25% at pH 6 and 25°C, highlighting the potential of R-nZVI as an effective adsorbent for MB removal.
