Simulation of the Operation of a Linear Image Sensor as Part of a Linear Displacement Measurement Device

Currently, optical position-sensitive devices are increasingly being used to measure linear displacements. In this paper, a linear image sensor is considered as such a device. The main objective of the research is to develop algorithms that improve the accuracy of sensors of this class. The research was conducted using computer model methods. The movement of the light spot along the linear image sensor was simulated. The spot coordinate was determined by the centroid-method. Three criteria for the formation of a sample of signals for calculations are considered. The dependences of the measurement error of the spot coordinate on its displacement for each criterion are obtained.
