A Hybrid EI-EDM-PO Method Integrated with Two-Dimensional Chebyshev Approximation for Efficiency RCS Analysis

In this paper, we present a novel hybrid method for rapidly analyzing the radar cross sections (RCS) of electrically large targets across both frequency and spatial domain, combining the iterative equivalent dipole moment-physical optics (EI-EDM-PO) algorithm with the Chebyshev Approximation Technique in two dimensions (2D-CAT). The EI-EDM-PO method considerably reduces the computational time needed for the self-impedance matrix in the MoM region and the interaction matrix between the MoM region and PO region while maintaining accuracy. To facilitate rapid RCS prediction across both spatial and frequency domain, the unknown current coefficients throughout the entire angular and frequency domain are obtained by 2D Chebyshev polynomial approximation. Compared to the point-by-point calculation of the target's current coefficients in the frequency and spatial domain, our method requires the calculation of only specific sampling points to derive the current coefficients across the entire frequency and spatial domain. Numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed method significantly reduces computation time while preserving accuracy.
