Filtenna-Filtenna Design for Broadband and High-Selectivity Frequency Selective Surface

This paper presents a novel broadband quasi-elliptical bandpass frequency selective surface (FSS) for radome applications. The proposed FSS consists of a periodic array of patch with the stub-loaded resonator in pieces of double-layer printed circuit boards, which are connected by via through the ground and then stacked together with a certain distance. The simulation results show that the −1.5 dB transmission bandwidth is 8.21 ~ 11.66 GHz, and two transmission zeros are outside of a passband. This configuration enables FSS to facilitate broadband transmission and high selectivity.
