Energy Harvesting Analysis of SLIPT Over Visible Light Gamma-Gamma Distributed Channels

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is a widely investigated technique wherein energy harvesting (EH) occurs from ambient radio frequency signals (RF). With the rapid developments in Li-Fi, simultaneous light information and power transfer (SLIPT) become a significant and safe alternative for energy harvesting. In this work, we consider the line of sight (LoS) SLIPT communication link over gamma-gamma distributed visible light channels. For it, we develop an insightful statistical analysis of harvested energy. Specifically, we derive a closed form upper bound for average energy harvested. We present plots based on the numerical results and obtain useful observations. The analysis we present in this paper serves as a useful theoretical benchmark for multi-SLIPT EH-VLC models.
