Reliability and Life Evaluation of Ti-6Al-4V Compression Springs at Specific Temperature

The mechanical properties of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy make it a promising material for high-temperature applications. However, uncertainties surround the long-term performance and reliability of springs made of Ti-6Al-4V alloy at medium temperatures. To address this issue, we evaluated the reliability and life expectancy of Ti-6Al-4V compression springs at 250 °C. First, we conducted degradation experiments on Ti-6Al-4V springs exposed to two different compressive loads at 250 °C. Subsequently, the degradation trajectories of the spring samples were analyzed, and their reliability and lifespan were evaluated using the pseudo-failure life method. The results indicate that Ti-6Al-4V compression springs gradually lose their load-carrying capacity over time due to creep deformation, with the spring's lifespan influenced by stress levels. The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of the long-term performance and reliability of Ti6Al-4V springs in medium-temperature environments, offering valuable insights for future engineering applications.
