Factors influencing student academic performance and career choices

Students’ success is determined by the career they choose, therefore, if they choose the wrong one, the possibility of failing is much higher than succeeding. As a result, the main goal of this paper is to find the factors that influence students when choosing their careers and see if they successfully complete their studies through which they will accomplish their career goals as well. In order to achieve this goal, the study used a mixed methodology and obtained qualitative and quantitative data by distributing a questionnaire to students of public universities and private colleges in Kosovo. Four different data such as demographic, socioeconomic, academic data performance, and academic data for each year have been collected. The main findings of this research show that these particular factors have a specific impact on students’ career choices. On the other hand, factors such as GDP and inflation are not relevant since they do not impact such choices. Lastly, the success of these students when choosing their career also depends on their goals such as if they have registered the following semester, which means that they will continue their education and have made the right decision when choosing their career.
