LEO Satellite Routing Method based on Dynamic A-Star Algorithm

It can be anticipated that more and more ground-based communication facilities will transmit traffic through low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks. With the increase of the traffic carried by LEO satellite networks, a routing mechanism that can adapt to complex changes in link state is needed. In this paper, we propose a LEO satellite routing method based on A-Star algorithm, which combines rolling optimization and feedback with the A-Star algorithm to improve the adaptability of the A-Star to different network loads. The proposed algorithm consists of three parts: cost prediction, rolling optimization and feedback correction. The link cost is estimated during the cost prediction phase, the next hop is selected based on the latest estimate of the link state during the rolling optimization, and the estimate of link cost is corrected in the phase of feedback correction. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm yields improvements in network delay, packet drop rate, and throughput.
