Open Circuit Voltage-state of Charge Testing for a Lithium Polymer Battery Cell

Lithium polymer battery is a new type of Lithiumion battery with polymer electrolytes. Compared with traditional liquid electrolyte Lithium-ion batteries, Lithium polymer batteries often have better density, higher power capacity, and longer life cycle. This paper investigates a popular Lithium polymer battery made by Zeee. The open circuit voltage-state of charge test is done under various temperatures to identify the battery capacity, charging/discharging efficiency, and the relations between open circuit voltage and state of charge. The testing results identify excellent performance of this type of cell under very cold temperatures (-25°C). The derived battery models will provide convenient tools for further applications in the real world.
