Design of Creative Thinking Skills Training Activity Using Board Game with Mobile Technology

Creative thinking is considered one of the key competencies in the workplace. This study is based on a highly representative creative thinking tool - the Six Thinking Hats. The study utilizes an educational board game to guide learners in understanding the main contents and focus of each thinking hat by employing a matching mechanism of keywords and example sentences related to the Six Thinking Hats. Additionally, further scaffolding assistance is provided to help learners in cognitive construction during the learning process by scanning the QR code on the cards. With a sample of 17 Taiwanese adults, the results of the study indicate that this board game contributes to learners' learning effectiveness and creative self-efficacy. Moreover, the mean scores of the overall flow and learning motivation from the learners' feedback were significantly higher than the median score of the scale (i.e., 3), demonstrating the positive impact of this educational board game on learners' learning.
