Comments on "Approximate calculation of leaky-mode loss coefficients for Ti-diffused LiNbO3waveguides"

The discrepancy between the results of "geometric-optical" [1] and "WKB" [3] analyses of the leaky-mode loss coefficient of LiNbO
3
:Ti anisotropic waveguide is discussed. It is shown that both methods, if correctly formulated, give essentially identical results.
