Abstract:
ATM or Automatic Teller Machine is widely adopted worldwide for extending banking services to users on an anywhere - anytime basis. Despite the growth of mobile money transfer apps like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm, the ATM services suite is still regarded as a popular mode for multilingual, hard and e - cash transactions in most developing nations mainly due to limited digital literacy. The ATM nodes typically comprise of hardware User Interface (UI) supported by bank server to provide real - time transactions for users. Ironically, there has not been much enhancement in ATM UI/UX for weak users such as - rural, elderly, laborers and other novice users. This paper proposes a novel UI framework in English language to enhance the operational UX in terms of interpretability and inclusion of weak users for Indian banks. This work proposes Explainable UI or XUI which is AI enabled ATM UI that interacts flexibly and effectively with the user, generalizing the UI menu for both weak and existing users. It aims to make Cash Withdrawal and Balance Check, the two most frequently performed operations, easily interpretable or explainable besides other enhancements that reduce latency and improve security. The main contributions of this work are as follows: XUI ATM client for Cash Withdrawal and Balance Check, enhancing ATM security and novel analytic performance index for HCI.
