3D Numerical Modeling of Displacement Due to Magnetostriction in Silicon Steel Laminated Core

To evaluate and reduce the noise generated in the laminated iron cores of transformers and motors, accurate displacement calculation due to magnetostriction is important. In this paper, the authors proposed a 3D numerical modeling method to calculate the displacement due to magnetostriction in the silicon steel laminated iron core using homogenization technique. The proposed method is applied to a silicon steel laminated core under alternating excitation of 50 Hz. The calculated displacements obtained from the homogenization method are compared with those of the real laminated core model for validation. Compared to the conventional homogenization method, a much better agreement is achieved.
