On the use of the revised pulse vector basis functions for volume integral equation

A kind of revised definition for the pulse vector basis functions is proposed to discretize the the volume integral equation (VIE) by the method of moments. The traditional definition of the pulse vector basis functions (PVBF) is revised and three PVBF are defined in a pair of elements sharing a common face. It is shown that for electromagnetic scattering from thin dielectric objects, the solution efficiency of the VIE can be improved while keeping accuracy by the use of the revised PVBF.
