Design of A Dual-band Reflect-Transmit-Array Antenna Using A Triple-layer Metasurface

This paper presents a novel dual-band reflect-transmit-array (RTA) antenna using a triple-layer metasurface. The designed unit cell is capable of transmitting x-polarized incident waves in the 16-18 GHz band and reflecting x-polarized incident waves in the 32-34 GHz band. Additionally, the unit cell can achieve an independent 360° phase shift for both the reflection and transmission modes. The metasurface is fed by a horn antenna to construct a dual-band RTA antenna. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that the peak gain of the RTA antenna is 36.69 dBi and 31.66 dBi, with 1 dB gain bandwidth of 6.1% and 11.76% for the reflection and transmission modes, respectively.
