Far infrared laser emission from15NH3optically pumped by a CW sequence band CO2laser

Two new coincidences between the P(31) and P(35) CO
₂
10.6 μm sequence band emission lines and the
¹⁵
NH
₃
absorption lines have been found to produce far infrared (FIR) emission lines at λ = 111.9 and 218 μm. In addition, the known coincidence between the regular R (42) 10.6 μm band CO
₂
emission line and the asR (2,0) absorption line of
¹⁵
NH
₃
produced an FIR emission line at λ = 375 μm. The transitions involved in the laser process have been assigned to energy levels in the v
₂
vibrational mode.
