300 GHz-Band Radar System for High-Precision Landing Surface Imaging

We have demonstrated three-dimensional imaging using a 300 GHz frequency modulated continuous wave (FM-CW) radar for high-precision landing surface imaging. A 300 GHz FM-CW radar system was configured with moderate cost and footprint using commercially available devices. 3D imaging was implemented by the ranging measurement with a sequence of the two-dimensional beam scanning of the radar signal by a two-axis Galvano mirror. 3D imaging of targets has successfully demonstrated with a measurement error of approximately ±4 cm.
